GENERAL INFORMATION ABOUT THE ORGANIZATION:The museum was established between1985 and 1988 in the buildings of the former center of the Jewish community of Rendsburg, the synagogue of 1844/45, with the "mikvah" and the "TalmudTorah" School. The collections and exhibitions center on three topics: 1) religious culture; 2) Jewish history (Schleswig-Holstein and otherwise); 3) artists persecuted by the Nazis as Jews.

Since 2002, the museum has belonged to the Stiftung Schleswig-Holsteinische Landesmuseen Schloss Gottorf (Central Museums in the state of Schleswig-Holstein.)
