| GENERAL INFORMATION ABOUT THE ORGANIZATION: | The Bergen-Belsen Memorial is situated sixty kilometres north-east of Hannover, in the Lüneburg Heath. Located on the grounds of the former P.O.W. (Prisoner of War) and concentration camps, marked graves and monuments hold reminders of the suffering and deaths of its prisoners. A documentation centre illustrates the history of the camp and its victims. The documentation centre has written testimonies (published and unpublished),a photo archive, and a library. |

| OVERVIEW OF ORAL HISTORY COLLECTION: | Video nterviews are conducted at Bergen-Belsen by the staff of the Memorial. Audio interviews are produced outside of the Memorial. There are no written guidelines or a standardized interview schedule. The focus is on Jewish survivors of Bergen-Belsen and conducted primarily in German or English. Many interviews are concerned with experiences in the Bergen-Belsen DP camp. |
