GENERAL INFORMATION ABOUT THE ORGANIZATION:The Vancouver Holocaust Centre Society for Education and Remembrance was founded in 1983 by survivors of the Holocaust and incorporated as a non-profit society in 1985. In 1994, a Holocaust Education Centre was established.

Since 1994, the Vancouver Holocaust Education Centre (VHEC) has mounted educational traveling exhibits, produced the Annual High School Symposium, maintained a survivor-speaker outreach program and produced and circulated outreach discovery kits, curriculum materials, teachers guides, and online interactive news media. In addition, the VHEC presents special lectures, film screenings and discussions on the history of the Holocaust and its ethical implications for society. The VHEC newsletter "Zachor" is published four times a year.

The VHEC archival collection contains over 1300 documents, photographs, artifacts, books and a video library. The Centre also publishes books on the Holocaust and its effects on society.
