GENERAL INFORMATION ABOUT THE ORGANIZATION: 
  
OVERVIEW OF ORAL HISTORY COLLECTION:Since 1987, the Jewish Holocaust Museum and Research Centre in Melbourne, Australia has conducted oral history interviews about the Holocaust. The vast majority of testimonies are with survivors. Some are also with Jewish partisans and liberators as well as Jews who worked in UNRRA. A very small number are with Polish rescuers and non-Jewish German citizens who describe the attitude of the German communities to the Holocaust.

As of 1999, there wereover 1100 testimonies on video and audio.

2. Interviewee preparation: pre-interview data form containing personal details and brief history of life, war, and post-war experiences; date and time set for interview; each interviewee sent a copy of our guidelines of interview procedures; telephone contact.
3. Interview: 3 personnel (survivor, interviewer, videotaper - sometimes a trainee sits in on the interview); interviewer leads the survivors through the interview form taking the role of facilitator rather than guide.
4. Debriefing: immediately after interview; follow up by interviewer if necessary.
