GENERAL INFORMATION ABOUT THE ORGANIZATION:Since its founding in 1973, Yeshiva University Museum's changing exhibits have documented the culturally diverse intellectual and artistic achievements of 3,000 years of Jewish experience. The Museum provides a window into Jewish culture through its multi-disciplinary exhibitions and award-winning publications.

Yeshiva University Museum's collection of more than 8,000 artifacts includes fine and folk art, ethnographic and archeological artifacts, clothing and textiles, Jewish ceremonial objects, documents, books and manuscripts. It also includes documents, photographs, clothing and memorabilia relating to the Holocaust, among them an autographed account of deportation to Buchenwald.

OVERVIEW OF ORAL HISTORY COLLECTION:Funded by an NEH (National Endowment for the Humanities) youth grant, students of New York City public schools and Jewish day schools conducted interviews of German Jews regarding their lives in Europe (1920s to 1940s) and their subsequent American experience. The students then mounted an exhibition in the museum and produced a catalogue "The German Jews of Washington Heights: An oral history project produced by Junior High School Students under the auspices of the Yeshiva University Museum."
