| GENERAL INFORMATION ABOUT THE ORGANIZATION: | The Holocaust Center of Greater Pittsburgh was established in 1980 as a living memorial to the victims and martyrs of the Holocaust. As a resource center for the entire community, it is committed to education, commemoration and documentation.
The Holocaust Center maintains a circulating library of books, video tapes, periodicals and archival materials; sponsors an annual Arts and Writing Competition for junior and senior high school students; presents seminars to encourage the teaching of the Holocaust; creates curricula and outreach programs for public, private and parochial schools; conducts yearly Yom Hashoa Holocaust memorial observance and other annual commemorations as community education programs. |
