University Summer Programs Internships

The United States Holocaust Memorial Museum’s University Programs Branch seeks interns on an ongoing basis. The intern assists in all aspects of preparing material for publication by or in association with the Center for Advanced Holocaust Studies of the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum.

Responsibilities

Interns may assist CAHS staff to prepare for and conduct scholarly programs such as seminars, symposia, panel presentations, and campus outreach visits designed to strengthen Holocaust teaching in post-secondary institutions and serve as venues for the presentation of new research in the field of Holocaust studies. Interns may also review and update the information contained in "The Campus Guide to Holocaust Studies" to expand its utility as a resource for Holocaust research and teaching in U.S. post-secondary institutions. An intern may provide research assistance for occasional papers publications and other projects in such archives as the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum, the Library of Congress, and the National Archives and Records Administration.

Qualifications

Applicants for this position are expected to be graduate students or senior level undergraduate students who are either conducting or planning to conduct research in Holocaust studies. Applicants are expected to have specialized research skills and good historical knowledge of Holocaust-related topics as well as familiarity with scholarly publications and archival holdings in this field. Applicants must possess thorough knowledge of scholarly bibliographic forms and advanced computer skills for use in various databases and bibliographic searches. Applicants must be generally available throughout the fall/winter. Some travel on public transportation required for archival research.
