Between 1.5 million and two million displaced persons (DPs), including several hundred thousand Jewish survivors, refused or were unable to return to their home countries following World War II. They were housed in camps for displaced persons in Germany and Austria, while awaiting emigration. In the camps, Jewish survivors sought information about their family members. Here, young Sinaida Grussman is photographed in Kloster Indersdorf DP camp in Germany, to aid in the search for her family. | ||
