User Comments:
I could not find a match for Lajbl Orbach, but suspected it was a form of the name Lajb. Sapsia Lajb Orbach was the only male who was born within the correct time frame, leading me to believe he was the Lajbl Orbach who signed the album.
Approver Comments:
Lajbl is certainly a diminutive form of Lajb, so I agree this is one possible candidate to have signed this name in the album. Did you consider Lajb Urbach, born in 1932?

In this stage, I found Sapsia's mother, Tauba Orbach, sister, Sara Orbach, and grandfather (though there is no place to list grandparents) Berek Orbach, using the list of Lodz Ghetto Inhabitants and seeing that all shared the same addresses. Berek died in the ghetto on August 2, 1942, and Sara was deported to Chelmno on September 12, 1942, where I believe she died in the gas vans (based on information provided in the secondary sources). However, I know that Sapsia was not deported at this time, because I was able to find a work ID card for him (under the name Szapsa), dated to November 2, 1943. He worked in labor department #20 in the ghetto, Tischlerei Putzigerstr. 9. I also found an ID card for Tauba, but her's was dated to April 12, 1942, so it is unclear what happened to her. I have not been able to determine yet what may have happened to Sapsia.

Please add Szapsa as another spelling of his given name to this stage. I agree that if he was still working in the ghetto in 1943, he would not have been deported in 1942. Have you searched the later stages to see if you can find him there?
