I found two possible names for A. Zajdenfeld.

Abram Chaskiel Zanjdenfeld b. 14/10/1925 and lived at Bier 24 and Korn 9 12 and he was deported on 25/02/1942 on TR 4/2.

Abram Zanjdenfeld b. 22/08/1922 and he lived at Insel 35 9 and Magister 14. Also note the ghetto note "Zur Arb AG 28.6.1944" I'm not sure what this refers too?

I agree that these are the two closest matches for someone who might have been born between 1921 and 1927; if we take a slightly more liberal approach to the spelling of the last name (ie, turn on the "sounds like" button), there are a few other possibilities as well.

"Zur Arb AG 28.6.1944" refers to a deportation. Zur Arb is short for Zur Arbeit, German for "to work." Check out the secondary sources through stage 2 to see where deportations on June 28, 1944 went.

User Comments:

Abram b. 1922 was the son of Ester Zajdenfeld b. 1892 and the brother or cousin of Berta Zajdenfeld b. 01/04/1920. According to Abram's ghetto note "Zur Arb Ab 28.6.1944" refers to ZUR ARBEIT (TO WORK.) So I checked the secondary sources and found 28 Jun 1944 transport from Lodz to Chelmno and transport # III was killed in the gas vans. I checked on Jewishgen.org and found that Abram was on transport #469.

___

Abram b. 1925 was the son of Chana Frajndla Zajdenfeld b. 1890 and he was the sibling/cousins of Chana b. 21/01/1918, Basia 22/12/1922,  Perla b. 15/11/1929, Luba Frandla 29/12/1924, and Lewi Icchock b. 02/03/1927. They were all deported on TR 4/2 on 25/02/1942. According to the secondary resources the family were sent to Chelmno where they were killed in the gas vans.

I agree with all your conclusions. Good job checking the dates against the secondary sources to determine where these boys most likely were sent. I will continue to mark these records as "possible" until we can more closely determine which boy signed the album. Thank you for helping to tell their stories.
