Student Profile: Jakub Baljanski

I found two boys that fit for Jakub Baljanski born between the years of 1926 and 1931.

1.) the first boy I found was Jakob Polanski born 7/06/1929 and he lived at Fisch 30 flat 10 and he was deported on 20/03/1942 to Chelmno.

2.) The second boy was Jakub Polanski born 17/12/1929 and he lived at Brunnen 7, Insel 18 flat 2, and he moved on 30/06/1944 to Franz 26.

Good job. I agree that you have narrowed it down to the two most likely matches. Given that Jakub is listed as a schueler, that may tilt things in his favor as the more likely match, but we would need a little more evidence to know for sure.

Regarding details from the notes on each boy, I wonder if the date associated with ABG for Jakub was change of address (as you suggest) or if he was deported to Chelmno. There was a deportation of 700 people from the ghetto that day. At the same time, Jakub's name doesn't seem to appear on the deportation lists; so, you may very well be correct.

As for Jakob, even though you are likely correct that he was deported on March 20, 1942. 'Kalisch' is the German spelling for Kalisz (a city in Poland). It's odd to see a name associated with a deportation date unless the person was sent there (rather than Chelmno). So, it's possible he may have been sent to Kalisz.

I couldn't find anymore information on Jakob Polanski.

I found Jakub's family and they are Kalma Mojsze Polanski born 1902, Chaja Pesa Polanska nee Kaminska born 1904 and she died in the Lodz Ghetto on 22/10/1943, and his sister Rachela Polanska born 14/05/1938.

I agree. If Jakub was deported to Chelmno, it is almost definite that he perished there. You may enter Chelmno as his place of death on this stage. Thank you for helping to complete Jakub's record.
