School #3 was a religious school for boys in Lodz. Most students in school #3 were between 7 and 15 years old, meaning that they were born between 1926 and 1934.
School #3 was located at Ulica Franciszkańska 29. Fourteen of the Lodz schools met on Franciszkańska, most in the building at #29. The street name was changed to Franzstrasse when German occupation began in 1939. Learn more about the schools on Franciszkańska at

User Comment:
Under a search for 'I* Apelbaum,' Icek's was the only name that came up, and his birthdate fit the years appropriate for his school.

I agree this is the person who most likely signed this name in the album. In 1941 he would have been 12 years old, the right age to attend school #3. Nice work!

User Comment:
Icek had a father, Josef/Abram (b. 1898), a mother, Estera (b. 1898), and two sisters, Frajda (b. 1927) and Mirjam (b. 1931).
Of his family, only Icek has a deportation date, September 17, 1942. There is no corresponding deportation matching that date in Secondary Sources, so as of now, Icek's fate is unknown.
