School #14 was a school in Lodz that taught boys; school #14b met in the afternoon. Most students were between 10 and 15 years old, meaning that they were born between 1926 and 1931.
School #14 was located at Ulica Franciszkańska 29. Fourteen of the Lodz schools met on Franciszkańska, most in the building at #29. The street name was changed to Franzstrasse when German occupation began in 1939. Learn more about the schools on Franciszkańska at

I agree that you have found the student who most likely signed the album. In September 1941, he would have been almost 14 years old, the right age to be attending school #14b. Nice work! In the future, please leave a comment explaining to me and the other researchers how you came to your conclusions.
Also note his addresses: Hanseatenstrasse 70 #37 and Talweg #32 (after October 23, 1942). See you in stage 2!

User Comment:
I believe Frymet b. 1889 and d. in the ghetto on 29/07/1941 is Luzer's mother. I also believe his older brother was Chaim b. 20/06/1914 because they all lived at the same address.

I agree that they're related--not sure what the relationship between Luzer and Chaim is, but they were likely at least cousins. Interesting to note that Chaim and Luzer moved together in October 1942 to Talweg 32. I wonder where the story goes from here.
User Comment:
I reached this conclusion by looking up the meaning of WYM in the Lodz-Names: A Record of the 240,000 INhabitants of the Łódź Ghetto notes. WYM followed by a date indicates a change of registration to new address and because it is followed by TAL 32, I concluded that this individual moved to TAL 32.

I agree! This also means that he was not deported during the Gehsperre Aktion in September 1942--can you find any additional information on him in the next stages?
