User Comment:
The reason I chose "Majer Gecel Tajchman" as the possible male for the student "Tajchman" is because not only did Majer Gecel live in the Lodz ghetto, but he was born in 1932. The students that attended School #2 alongside "Tajchman" were born from 1926 to 1933. Majer Gecel had an address of Konigsb 4 56. I have been trying to find that address and see the distance from School #2, but have been unsuccessful.

I agree that this is the person who most likely signed this name in the album and the only match in the database. In 1941 he would have been 9 years old, the right age to attend school #2. Nice work!

User Comment:

The Notes given on Majer Gecel Tajchman from the Lodz Ghetto Inhabitants, has "AUSG 25.2.42" I have learned that AUSG means "left" or "deported," and by the date following Ausg, Majer was thus deported on February 25, 1942. I found on http://kehilalink.jewishgen.org/lodz/statistics.htm that people deported from Lodz around this time, were deported to the death camp in Chelmo. Researching, I have found that thousands upon thousands of Jews were deported from Lodz to Chelmo. With this, I believe Majer Gecel Tajchman was deported to his death in Chelmo on February 25, 1942.

You can list his date of deportation, and, if you have a corresponding destination for that deportation, the place of deportation on this stage. Not all deportations from Lodz went to Chelmno, though.
