    Film Provenance
Samuel and Marie Jacoby borrowed $2000 from a Home Savings and Loan for a trip to Europe with their sons Willis (17) and Mark (12) from August to September 1936. It was Samuel's first visit to his home in Biecz, Poland in 25 years; he was one of seven children. The family took the SS Champlain and spent two weeks visiting relatives, the synagogue, Jewish communal schools, and the library in Biecz. The Jacobys stopped in Budapest to visit Marie's family and then toured other European cities. They sailed back to the their home in Wilmington, DE on the SS Lafayette. Samuel documented their travels with 8mm film camera. Mark Jacoby donated his father's home movies to the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum in May 1996.
