    Overview

    Description
    Jewish-mortality chart. Shots of people walking by corpse on the sidewalk; some are running. Coffin wagon in street stops, men carry out plain coffin and drag body into it. Group of men carries and then loads coffin into wagon and walk it away. Two emaciated corpses laid out on sidewalk, people pass by. Men bring cart to bodies and begin to load them.

    Film Provenance
    The United States Holocaust Memorial Museum purchased this film from the National Center for Jewish Film (NCJF) in June 1992. The film was transferred at John E. Allen, Inc. in New Jersey. NCJF acquired the Warsaw Ghetto reels from the DDR archive (now subsumed by the Bundesarchiv in Berlin, Germany).

For similar footage of placing corspe in a casket, see Story 2547b, Film ID 248 (those shots are much better quality and more gruesome). See also Story 78, Film ID 140.

    Burn-in time codes appears on Betacam SP version (Protection copy) as well as the VHS. NCJF can make their one-inch version available on a loan basis.
