    Description
    (LIB 6223) Slave Labor Camp, Flossenbruck [Flossenbuerg], Germany, April 30, 1945. Snow on ground in Cheb? MS, CU, banner on picket fence "Prisoners Happy End! Welcome!" CU sign "Arbeit Macht Frei" on concrete plaque by gate. CU, "Vorsicht Hochspannung Lebensgefahr." CU electrified barbed wire, guard towers, steel gates. Civilians standing outside. Horse-drawn cart with covered coffin and civilians moving through the gate. In Flossenburg, CU, four naked male survivors: two Jewish, one French, one Polish, with numbers tatooed on their chests. Pan down to feet (2 have pants pulled down). CU survivor's emaciated backside. Seq: Former French prisoner in the camp conducts soldier through underground crematorium (through grate). MSs, prisoners working in crematorium carry out bones and ashes from furnace and dump them in nearby pit. CU "Disinfektion" painted on brick wall. Survivors (in regular clothes) splitting and stacking wood. LS, pan, barracks in large concentration camp, on hillside. Seq: Brig Gen Milton B Halsey of the 97th Div inspects the camp. Several MPs walking through gate and around camp, going underground through grate, exiting with jeeps. Seq: Soldiers and civilians digging up bodies of slave laborers, killed during the death marches, all are clothed. VCU, beaten face, mud, blood. CUs, bodies with bayonet and bullet wounds in head and chest. Digging, pulling more bodies out. Pan, human remains. CU, three older male civilians talk to soldier. More digging and pulling up corpses. CUs, bodies.
