my suggestions are that the first structure to stop genocide is the government that is supposed to protect its people from any insecurity, as goodwill ambassador , i will ask that any one who works with Angelina to help her in setting structures in the DRC to educate first of all , congolese the culture of patriotism, they should learn to fight corruption in all its forms, they should learn to wok hard to deserve a decent life and to the government to try by 2010 to give all girls and boys to have a free education , the government should achieve the millenium goals , especially in education health and creating job opportunities , to encourage agriculture projects from individuals. |

It is amazing to hear someone speak about things that have been happening in Congo. I am really not surprised to be informed about any of it because I've also lived some of the crisis that Angelina speaks off. I lost everything and lots of family members. There were night I went to bed wishing I was dead. But I thank God for keeping alive until this day. And I thank him for protecting those who are still living in the Congo. Congo is full of strong and patient people. I hope this will be over for them very soon. |

What Can You Do?.......Breathe. Love. Live. Create, Imagine, Dream. And Act. You must Act. It is not merely talking, 'sending B.S. email chains', or charging your credit card for those extra air faire points, unless of course you're planning on flying to Darfur, the Middle East, or the Congo.
It is not about web sites, or running for a cause, or wearing a wristband, though if those things make you feel you've contributed, then by all means do so. Think about the Peace Corps, think about traveling, and do it now before it is too late, which is inevitable. Take pictures, write it down, make art. Document everything. Everything. Read it. View it. Hear it. Share it. Spread it. Live "it". Act upon "it". |

Spreading the word of what is happening in Africa through various sources of media, is the most effective way to start. The knowledge of what is happening in Africa should not be hidden as it is now. Things will never get better in Africa if no one knows what is happening over there. I think that once, people know about the situations occurring, they will try to right this wrong. If we continue to sit idly by and allow acts of genocide in Africa, history will only repeat itself in the future. |

I listen to the Holocaust Museum's podcast, Voices on Genocide Prevention, and one of its many inspiring interviews is with a woman named Lisa Shannon. After learning about the situation in the Democratic Republic of Congo and realizing how little others knew about it, Shannon decided to take action... She teamed up with Women for Women International and created Run for Congo Women. This turned out to be a simple and concrete way people could raise awareness and money for women living in Congo. At first, Shannon ran alone; she did a thirty mile run, raising $28,000; but in 2006, she organized runs across the world raising thousands of dollars for women in the Congo. I saw CNN broadcast on the rape crisis in the Congo last night and have not been able to think much of anything else since. My first thought this morning was the fate of those women and children in the Congos. I've spoken to some friends and ask them to start a email chain to spead the awareness. This inhumane abuse has to end. |

I am a congolese refugie living in South Africa. I watch a lot of TV, as I study from home. So for the first time I saw someone speaking openly about the crisis in the Congo on OPRAH Show, I thought the media does not contribute enough in aleviating these enrests, instead they go spying on Angelina as she prepares to give birth to her child in the peaceful Namibia. These journalists must allow her some privacy and go to cover the plots to sabotage the elections in the east of Congo in Oprah style and of course Angelina spirit. I thank you |
