The Museum defines a Holocaust survivor as any persons, Jewish or non-Jewish, who resided in territory under the control of Nazi Germany and/or its Axis partners between 1933 and 1945 and who suffered displacement, persecution, and/or discrimination directly resulting from the policies of Nazi Germany and/or its Axis partners. In addition to former inmates of concentration camps and, ghettos this includes, among others, refugees from territory controlled by Nazi Germany and its Axis partners and people in hiding.
