ALETTA SCHAAP NAMED UNITED STATES HOLOCAUST MEMORIAL MUSEUM CHIEF OPERATING OFFICER
WASHINGTON, D.C. — The United States Holocaust Memorial Museum has appointed Aletta Schaap as its Chief Operating Officer.
Ms. Schaap, who joined the Museum on February 7, was a member of the United States Holocaust Memorial Council, the Museum’s governing body, from 1997—2002, and served on several Council committees, including Strategic Planning, Finance and Collections and Acquisitions.
Prior to joining the Museum, Ms. Schaap held several positions at the J. Paul Getty Trust in Los Angeles for more than 13 years, most recently serving as Associate Director.
Ms. Schaap holds a Master’s in Business Administration from UCLA, a Master’s in Fine Arts from the University of Puget Sound and a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Michigan.
Created by a unanimous act of Congress, the Museum is America’s national institution for Holocaust education and remembrance. A public-private partnership, the Museum is a federal institution whose educational activities and outreach are made possible through private donations. More than 250,000 individuals, foundations, and corporations helped build the institution and currently support its programs and operations.
