My father, Heinrich (Chaim) Blitzer, owned a huge men's clothing store in Berlin, and he had worked all his life to build up this store--and he told me how his store was looted and utterly destroyed on Kristallnacht. The police hunted for him, my mother and 2 sisters, to deport them to a concentration camp, but a Righteous Gentile risked his life to hide them in his attic, until my father and mother and sisters were able to emigrate to America in Feb. 1939. On Kristallnacht, my uncle, Yosef Wassermann, was rounded up with other Jews and deported to a concentration camp, where he was murdered. My grandparents, 5 aunts and uncles in Berlin, were later deported to concentration camps where they were murdered. My mother was the sole survivor of her family. Shattered like the glass of Kristallnacht, was my family. We should never, ever forget. In 1995, I went to Berlin to visit the apartments where my family had lived, and it was a very emotional experience for me.

This is one of the worst events
in the world and one of the most remeberable events. It is a good thing that
this is so remeberable because if it wasn't then it could happen again and
maybe again after that. I just want to say that I am very, very sorry it happened
and I hope that no one anywhere or anytime has to experince anything so awful
evr again
-- Ali
Let us always remember those who
went down in the Holocaust for it is thier memories that will prevent a second
one.
-- Orli
I don't understand how people can
hate so strongly. How do you hate someone you don't know? My mission is to
continue to teach awareness of the holocaust and human rights violations of
their time, and hope that they understand and stop prejudices in their lives.
-- Lois Philpot
As young adults, we hear of the
horrors of the Holocaust and thestories break our hearts. It's unimaginable
the pain that you have endured. We see that you are courageous and honorable
people and very strong rolemodels, with a message that says " Keep Your
Faith". You truly inspire us and we know that God has blessed you.
-- Meghan and Kristyn
I never knew my father-in-law Adolf
Cappel whose shop in
Elberfeldt/Wuppertal, Germany was smashed on Kristallnacht and who was sent
to concentration camp and served as a slave laborer in a Panzer factory on
the Eastern front until he was sent back to Auschwitz and shot near the end
of the war.
-- John Fisher-Smith
What happened to all the victims
of the holocust should never happen again. We can never forget we must not

I am only 13 years old and i have
read about 6 books on the
Holocaust. I am disguisted by the things that went on in the 30's and 40's.
I have been intersested in the Holocaust since the 6th grade. This period
of time was a very sad one and it brings tears to my eyes when i watch movies
about this time. Hitler was a very cruel man and if there is anymore Nazi
youth out there please stop and think what you are doing. I am not Jewish
but I am a young lady who does not want this type of thing to ever happen
again. I can read about this type of thing and think of what those people
might have felt like and not even come close to what went through these peoples
minds. I myself do not want to go through something like that and I am sure
there are a lot more people who don't either. Thank you and remember the Jews.
-- Ashley
It hurts me deeply to know people
can hate others enouph to kill them, just because they are different than they
are. Tragedies like this is caused by ignorance.
-- Lisa Bell
I remember studying about this
while I was a History Major in college and I just remember the sadness that
I felt. I still feel it. The desecration of the Torah and the Shuls. How horrible.
I see this same spirit growing here in America each and every day and what
are Jews going to do about it? I am converting to Judaism and I am a Black
woman of 45. I have spoken out and I'll continue to do so. To all of the people
who lost so much during that time, I remember you in my heart. I'll never
forget!!!!!
-- Ann Taylor
For
all of those consumed in firey hell
For all to whom the sounds of shattering glass
was the demolition of their world.
To remember that they are not just a number even to remember is not enough
we must never never never let this happen again.
-- Yehudit
What happened during the Holocaust
and Kristallnacht was terrible. I hope that this will never happen again to
any other races in History again. No one should die because they are thought
of as being a threat to another race.
-- Stephany
I am deeply affected and pained
that such atrocities could occur in our "civilized" world. But Jehovah
God is still on His throne and He will prevail. I find small comfort in knowing
that most of the people who committed these atrocities are burning in hell.
-- Debbie Parker
Around and around and back again

I am the daughter of Holocaust
survivors. It is my goal in life to
teach my students the horrors of the Holocaust so that this may never happen
again. I do this for the blessed memory of my grandparents, as well as my
father's eight brothers and sisters who were murdered at the hands of the
Nazis.

It is a unthinkable horror that
no one spoke out against these acts of violence until it was too late.
-- Emily D.
I feel terrible about what happened
and I hope next time, if there is a next time, that very few people will die
and there will be no concentration camps.
-- M. B.
Never forget what happened over
in Germany. Hitler was very power hungry and would stop at nothing. He blamed
the Jews for his own failure. If we ever blame other people and get power
hungry we would most likely have another war. Then more people would die.
I feel terrible about what happened to the Jewish people and I hope it never
happens again. No more camps or endless slaughter. We are very lucky that
we never lived through that war.
-- Meagan Brew
I will always remember this......god
bless
-- Kathleen
I have been learning about the
Holocaust and I just get so upset to just learn about how all the Germans
did nothing while all those Jews were being killed. I hope that a thing like
this will never happen again. It is such a tragic thing that has happened
-- Jaci Brognia
The stories of the millions of
Jews killed during the period of the Holocaust has truly moved me. I pray
that histroy does not repeat itself in this gruesome, terrible way.
-- Dapo
As a student I have taken the option
to write a paper on the Holocaust.I realized that it was a time that faith
was really tested.I learned numerous things that I myself shared with my peers.
My heart goes out to those that survived and even more so to thoes that didn't.
I will never forget.
-- muneca
Hitler created the closest thing
to hell on Earth. No one ever should have to feel the hatred of so many, or
the extreme hatred of that one man.
-- Caleb Phillips
The Holocaust was a terrible event
that happened because of bystander mentality. I for one will never sit back
and watch something like that happen. Especially because that could have been
me because I am Jewish.

Everyone needs to remember that
tragic night when the innocent people were violated and stuff
-- Anonymus
The
pain they must have felt
The pain they were forced through
Can not amount to anything
That has happened to you
To remember these times
Only will bring a tear
And to think of what might happen
Is causing everyones fear
So just listen to your heart
And go with you beliefs
Dont sigh when something happens
OR cry along with your griefs
On that night
The night that it begun
THe night when people died
Began the anti-semitisum that is never done
-- Anonymus
We are just beginning our segment
on the Holocaust, and it is a shame that not only Jews were mistreated but
twins also. It is SO cruel and Disgusting that the stormtroopers and Nazis
not only ruined their homes, shops and churchs but also shattered their self-respect
by humiliating them. As if sending them to concentration camps to get diseases
and starve to death isn't enough!
-- Kala
I think it was a very bad thing
they did to the jews that day! It was very very sad, i wish it would have
never happened but we can't help that now. I pray for the loved ones of the
ones who suffered and were forced to give their lives. I hope all the Jews
live happy and healthy lives for now and for eternity!!!
-- Cody Nelson
How gould Hitler have done such
a thing? He had one of the most powerful armies in the world and instead of
useing the armies for something that does matter he decided to kill a religion.
Faith, no matter what religion it is, is more important than any mortal. It's
sad that any one had to go through that at all. People died for no reson but
religion.
-- Katie
I really
hope that you will have a good life and I hope that yall are gald that you
survived and i think it was wrong what hitler did and he shouldn't have done
it. I am a Jehovah's Witness and I think it is totally wrong what they did.
Thanks,
Yours truly

My Grandfather, Ellsworth A. Griffith,
faught in World War II.
Luckily he didn't die, but he did a few years later because of Lung Cancer.
He had lung cancer because he smoked too many cigaretts during the war becuase
that's all they gave him to calm him down.
-- Ashley and Griffith
Luckily, as far as I know, there was no one in my family who was involved
in the Holocaust, but I'm doing this for a school project and it really means
a lot to me.

I am studying kristallnacht for
some as level cousrwork and i have been really upset to hear the story that
emerges, however i think it important that accross the world young people

I'm not a jew but my parents have
had jewish friends for decades, jews from Germany and Austria which found
refuge in Sao Paulo, Brazil, where they live until today with their families.
After years reading and thinking about the holocaust, I feel that I am a jew,
in the sense that this tragic event affected the whole mankind and threatened
man dignity, so every person of any nationality must feel involved. Same applies
to any kind of mass murder, mass oppression, dictatorship and persecution
based on ideology, on greed, on brutal force and prejudice. I think that every
person (including jews) should learn from this great disaster and try to feel
solidarity to any threatened community. Choosing peace and understanding is
always the most difficult choice, but also the most rewarding.
-- 3/18/01 (?)
Of course the natural thing to
say and think is "how can people let this sort of thing happen? Well
they did. That is what needs to be remembered. I don't know if anyone of us
would have acted any different. I would like to think so. There is just too
much indifference for people to care. God didn't let this happen. We did.
-- 3/19/01 (?)
As a father of two children and
a serving soldier in Northern
Ireland, it is very moving to learn of the suffering of children. To see the
photograph of the child whose passport is shown only reminds me of my son
Jack who is only two years old and how he would have coped with the same situation,
It makes me cry.
-- patrick vinke-tuke
please remember these tragic events
and learn from them. violence never solved anything nor will it ever. love

-- M.K.B.
this was a horrible tragedy and
i hope that nothing like this happens again!

i feel so bad that the germans
felt this way towards the jewish. i wish that it would have been different
but nobody can change history, but if i could, i would have tried to do something
to prevent this whole situation. i'm not jewish, but i am african american,
and many of my ancestors went through slavery and were treated unfairly, but
nothing as severe as what the jewish people went through. i want to wish all
of the jewish people, and people who have been discrimanated against, the
very best. god bless you all! and i love you all!
-- Nikki Clark
My great-grandfather was arrested
on November 14th,three days after the beginning of Kristallnacht. He was taken
to Birkenau, where he was kept for six weeks. Thank God that he arrived at
the beginning of the Holocaust. Otherwise, my whole family would not exist.
I am very, very proud of my heritage; it was a curse and now it is a blessing,
as I am realizing everyday. God bless every soul that was hurt by the Holocaust.
-- Sarah Altman
Please teach the children of today

right or terrible things can happen.
-- Ellen Bernstein
Our grandfather is a survivor of
the Holocaust. Our mom has taught us about that terrible time in history.
We ask our grandpa about how he felt living in the Lodz ghetto and working
in the concentration camp. How did he have the will to survive? He doesn't
talk about the Holocaust very much but we know he thinks about it often. We
learn about the Holocaust in school and we tell our grandpa about what we
learn. We are proud of our grandfather and have learned a lot from him. We
will always remember NEVER to FORGET. We will always remember all that have
perished in the Holocaust and hope that teaching others will help prevent
this terrible thing from happening again.

I think that this is one of the
worst things in our history. I wasn't

-- Emily Boeckelmann
NEVER AGAIN! That is something
I have learned since before I knew what it ment. I have grandparents who dealt
with this war, was in this war, had family in these camps.
-- Elenia Cooper
I think Hitler is just plain sick.
I don't understand what gave him the authority to do such a terrible thing.
The holocost was hands-down, the worse thing that ever happened Worldwide.
-- Mary-Kate O.
I hope that Hitler will be punished

I have heard many stories from
my family who were in the war. I am so sorry for all the pain these people
had to endure. I will make sure my generation doesn't repeat the same mistake.

thank you for the wonderful website

What happened to the people of
the Jewish religion is terrible. It should never be repeated and will always
be in peoples hearts. Every time I see something or read something that has
to do with the mistakes of the Germans towards the Jewish people I want to
cry. This is a wonderful site and informed me of things I never know I wouls
know!

On this date, remember the victims
by playing Mahler's Resurrection Symphony which was played the next day by
the Jewish symphony in the Berlin Square.

Let's never
forget about it.
--Alexandra

Many people look at what happened
and say how could someone turn their back or do these things they say "I
would never do that." but If you look at life and see how if you are
desperate and need help you will do anything. The German people were desperate.
-- Dbzmm1
It's so hard to believe that so
many people stood by and did nothing when so many people were in such terrible
conditions. It must have been hard to keep all the other countries from finding
out. I can't believe anyone could do that.

I wish for everyone to know that
what happenend during Krystallnacht was one of the most disturbing things

All of these selections of remembrances
are dedicatd to all of the souls lost during the time of the holocaust. May
God forever keep their souls, and have mercy on those who helped to commit
such a horible crime. I pray that all Jews will not be ashamed, but proud
of their heritage and may all the souls that were lost rest in peace.

I don't see how all of this could
have happened with
nobody doing a thing to stop it. How crazy can one human be to want to kill
people for their religion?

That man could do this to man,
I cry.
For families ripped apart, for families ended, some before they were even
begun, I mourn.
For those we can never meet, I weep.
For pain, hunger, suffering, dying, I rage.
Knowing the seeds are not dead,
I fear.
--
to all who died here I hope that
you no longer stuffer in pain and sickness but live on in glory in eturnity

I find it quite horrible that Germany
would do this to just cause
trouble for the Jews. Even though it is "over" with, I'm sure it
will always stick out as a disgusting event. I feel for all who was put through
the trouble of the German Nazis.
-- Terry
I think it's awful what the Nazis
did to those poor Jews. They are just human beings. I can't believe the Nazis
didn't realize this before.
--
Let us remember this terrible period
in history that it may never happen. Let no one with such a hateful heart
ever come to power again. The pure horror that those innocent people suffered,
and for what reason? There was no reason. To blame the Jews for all of Germany's
problems is simply and outrageoulsly stupid.
-- Robbie and Trevor
I feel so sorry for all of the
people that perished that night that
the nazis burned and killed. hittler was a creul man and he never should have
done that to anyone

This was a time of great evil,
pause you who read
this and take time to remember those who have passed away so long ago.

As i study the beginning's of the
holocaust (kristallnacht).I can't believe a person who only cared about ruling
all of Europe could do this to the jews who were innocent. The part that i
don't get is Hitler was a jew himself. How can hitler and the nazi's torture
the jews so painfully, destroying their lives their homes, families. The more
i study about the holocaust and hitler i am learning new facts and new information.
Nobody will forget the terrible time that the jews went through. How could
he do this.JUST REMEMBER WHAT HAPPENED AND NEVER FORGET!!!!

I think that this was a horrible experience for many people. Learning

-- Darren Richards
What happened that night, that
night of Kristallnacht, was a horrible thing. The whole Holocaust was a horrible
thing. Jews were killed, beaten, humiliated, and deprived of their dignity
and pride as a race, as people. I just can't put into words how I feel about
what happened, but I think the least we can do for those millions of people
who suffered, is to remember what happened, understand what a terrible mistake
it was, and prevent it from happening again. I will never be able to truly
feel and understand the hell those people went through, but my heart goes
out to every one of them.
-- S. Wong
I cant believe someone would do
something so horrible like that. If I was there i dont know what i would do,
but i wouldnt just sit there
-- Kyle
What happened during "Kristallnacht,"
the horrors, atrocities, the pain and anguish that was inflicted upon the
millions of Jews that had suffered because the Further dindn't think that
they were superior or equal to the "Aryan" race, (which he so wrongly
used to call white, blonde hair, blue-eyed people,) turns my stomach, disgusts
me, and really upsets me. Hitler was so idiotic when it came to who was the
"dominate race," because there is no dominate race --- thought many
choose to believe there is...which in turn leads us to having so many conflicts.
So keep these Jews in your thoughts as you walk through each day and remember
the hell that the Germans Put Jews through, and what true reason is that Hitler
ordered...THE DEATH OF JEWS. Jews are as equal to Catholics as blacks are
to whites. WE ALLEQUAL TO ONE ANOTHER NO ONE IS MORE SUPERIOR THAN THE
OTHER!!!
-- Ashley Hardy
DONT EVER FORGET!
-- FRANKLINE AND JOANNA
during all of this, the US was just
standing there and acting like this was not a big deal and that it didnt involve
us....well it did. Many people say that we didnt do anything wrong but we
did...we just stood there and watched it all happen that is what was wrong.
This was a big mistake and we NEVER should forget what happened to these innocent
people and we should always remember how lucky we are.

I am a white catholic woman, age
37. I am constantly shocked and appalled by the new things I learn about the
Holocaust. This is just one more thing that tears my soul up. How people could
have done the things the Nazis did to the Jews is beyond my capacity to understand.
This is one subject that burns me to my soul. I can not seem to turn away
from learning as much as I can about the Holocaust, as much as everthing repulses
me. Maybe it is because I could never bear to have something so horrible happen
again, in my life or my children's. God help us all
-- Cheryle Tebor
It still makes no sense to me.
The things hitler siad the the things he did, but why. All because he didnt
have blonde hair blue eyes? He should have taken a look in then mirror! He
had brown hair and brown eyes! It is still such a blur to me. If any of you
had seen Schindlers list, you have a better perspective. I dont think I'll
ever get over the horror and tradgedy in that movie. However it was also very
informing and helped me to understand it all alittle better. I feel terrible
for all the ones who died. RIP
-- Ashley
I studied the Holocust at school
but not until I visited your museum did I truly relize that it was not just
6 million Jews killed. Each Jew had a life, family, a story, a history, and
they were killed because they were different. That is inhumane and cruel.
"Those who don't study the past are doomed to repeat it."
-- Sussanah
All members of my grandfather's
family who were not lucky enough to be sponsored to America, were killed in
Auschwitz. I look at their pictures and hurt at the loss. I worry, even in
this "modern world" to let anyone know of my jewish heritage. There
is still too much hatred out there. Education must prevail so as to not allow
this to ever happen again!
-- sandra

i don't have any personal or family
stories about the holocaust. but i do know that what happened was the work
of evil people. it was wrong. It was horrific and disgusting. i am only 15,
but i have an extensive knowledge of WWII and the Holocaust. i have been researching
that period in history for the past six years. it has become a major goal
of mine to make certain that these things are never forgotten. that they are
never denied. how can you deny what official documentaion proves? how can
you deny that fact that 6 million Jewish people and 3 million Non-Jewish lives
were destroyed? to do that is to lie to yourself as well as others and to
belittle the souls of those who lost their lives, those who lost family, and
those who lost eight years of they're lives only to be left with memories
of death and hate and destruction. these things must always be remembered.
-- Jennie
May god have mercy on those souls
who were lost during this awful time. I pray that the Nazi thugs and collaborators
will forever burn in hell and suffer an eternity of suffering.

I am sorry, and i weep for the
lost souls who suffered so at the hands of the Nazis. I pray that this will

Im sorry to all the families that

am sorry.

very sad. i feel bad for all jewish

i think that was bad because it

No matter what the world has done
to harm the Jewish people, the One above, the Most Powerful, is together with
the Jews, forever. And you canbe sure that He will never fail and His judgement
will come one day soon. " This is what the Lod says, Who gives the sun
as light for the day, who ordained the laws for the moon and stars to provide
light for the night, who stirs up the sea until its waves roar - Adonai-Tzva´ot
is His Name: `If these laws leave my presence,` says the Lord, `then the offspring
of Israel will stop being a nation in my presence forever.`"

let us not fail to learn the lesons
and to teach our children love
and empathy instead of hate and intolerance. God help us to do this in our
daily lives.

The present German government boasts
that the Germans have supported Israel with money. This was money takenfrom
the Jews during the Nazi period. The present German Government states quite
clearly that it is not" rechtmassig" to return any property stolen
from a refugee of Nazi oppression, at the present time,October 2000. The German
Courts have made this judgment and are therefore also partly guilty of the
Holocaust and its consequences. The German people want to write a line under
the enormous crimes committed by their nation under the Hitler regime. As
long as the Germans refuse "wiedergutzumachen and zu entschadigen",
do they remain also guilty, and this should be made clear to them. A former
refugee from Nazi oppression

We Look At The Holocaust And Say
"What A Horible Thing That Happened! Good Thing The USA Is Nothing Like That!"

What the Germans did was wrong,
and we all know that. The Holocaust was a terrible thing. It is sad that that
events went this far, just to teach the world how important and scary power

I don't know if i ever used the
word hate and really meant it. But now as I begin to learn about the Holocaust,
the word "hate" has never meant so much. The word can be used lightly and
not truely meant, but when the word is used against so many innocent people,
is has such a different meaning.

Adolf Hitler was really evil and

The tragedy of Kristallnacht in
1938 was repeated again at the Palestinian refugee camps of Sabra and Chatilla

who directed his hired "Christian Militias" in the slaughter of over a thousand
families: men, women, even babies.

As the grandchild of a WWII veteran

Though I am not a Jew, I have met many who were affected by this atrocious

I will help teach the future generations the importance of REMEMBERING.

The travesties that occured throughout
the holocaust can never be forgotten. The very idea that civilization allowed
such events to conspire is devastating to one's mind. I cry for the people

had so little humanity in their hearts that they could, with sound mind and
body, committ the trecherous acts upon so many people's lives.

To reply to what was said about
the U.S. not doing anything. If you remember correctly, the U.S. did do a
lot. Ever seen "Saving Private Ryan"? That movie has to do with how much the
U.S. did during this time. Also remember we were in a crisis because our Harbor
had just been bombed. I know we should have helped earlier, but we did all
we could. Now is the time to forgive others for their mistakes, even though
it may be hard.

I am an American, currently living
in Germany. I've been here for over a year and a half, and recently there
have been neo-Nazi demonstrations here where I live. This city is extremely
international; I attend an international school here, and the experience of
the demonstrations in our Altstadt horrified all of us. I don't know any Germans
who were not shaken by the event. That same day there was a huge counterdemonstration
against the neo-Nazis. The second demonstration's numbers far outweighed those
of the first. Here in Germany they, too, are shocked by the events of the
past and strive to make sure it never happens again. To anyone and everyone
touched by the events of this century's violence, we all grieve alongside
you. May God watch over us all.

The present German government
boasts that the Germans have supported Israel with money. This was money takenfrom
the Jews during the Nazi period. The present German Government states quite
clearly that it is not" rechtmassig" to return any property stolen from a
refugee of Nazi oppression, at the present time,October 2000. The German Courts
have made this judgment and are therefore also partly guilty of the Holocaust
and its consequences. The German people want to write a line under the enormous
crimes committed by their nation under the Hitler regime. As long as the Germans
refuse "wiedergutzumachen and zu entschadigen", do they remain also guilty,
and this should be made clear to them. A former refugee from Nazi oppression
and a poor OAP.

The darkness in humankind that
lives just below the shiny veneer of civility we project to those around us
must never be forgotten. The hatred expressed by the Nazis has not gone away
but has hidden itself in the wings, waiting for the opportunity to show it's
ugly face once again. We must teach our children to remember the horror of
man's injustice to man, and we must condition ourselves to stand against the
evil power of racism wherever it decides to show itself. The terror of that
night must never be forgotten.

It seems that many people feel
the need to express hatred for those who were part of the Third Reich . Unaware
how dangerous the cry of 'I hate you because you hate' is . The Holocaust
was a profoundly horrific moment in history , but only by understanding how
human beings could be moved to loathe so intensely can we prevent its re-occurance
. Men like Primo Levi showed that we must not look back in anger , but with
a desire to understand and forgive . Hatred is never an answer it only circles
endlessly back on itself . We must always remember.
--J. Morton

of Yom Hashoah. I will teach my children, and all those who will listen, not

In the simplest form of remembrance, I can only say, We hear you, we are listening
to your cries, and will not turn our backs again.

For all of those who say that the
Holocaust never happened are the cruelest of people. To think of how much
the survivors suffered, and for someone to say it never happened is completely
blind to all the proof that there is. The now deserted concentration camps
in Europe, that my father has visited and my granfather lived through is proof.
The people that say the Holocaust never happened are prejudice, choose to
ignore the proof, and simply cruel.
--Micki
I just did a term paper on the
Holocaust. I found tears in my eyes so many times when reading information
and my own paper. "the Night of Broken Glass" or Kristallnacht was so sudden...a
Jew did kill a German...but he killed ONE man, and the whole Jewish community
suffered. They lost, lives, friends, family, jobs, homes...everything.
--Jane
I am german. My Grandmother is
german and my Grandfather is Jewish. Before my Grandparents died, they told
me all the things they could remember about the Holocaust. My grandmother's
family was one of the many who helped hid the jews from the other germans.
Fortunatley, they were never caught hiding the jews, but I remember one story
she told me about when their house was mistook for a jewish hideou t{ironic}
and the house was about to be broken into when my great-grandfather came out
of his shed{he had hired some of the men to work for him in return for them
hidinhg them} and got them right as they were going to break the door down.
My Grandmother even married one of the men her family was hiding. My grandfather
was one of the jews who were to be taken to Auschwitz. I know this is a very
touchy subject, and I will never forget what I have been told.

I have no direct influence from
Kristallnacht or any of World War 2 that I know of. I am doing a report on
Kristallnacht, and I cannot believe how mentally unstable these people had
to be. What they did to people not only during Kritallnacht, but during the
entire war is unimaginable. I am brought to tears every time I see a picture

I will never feel the anger you
experienced that night. I will never feel the sadness you experienced that
night. I will never feel anything that you experienced that night. Hitler
forced millions of human beings to hate in such a way that is unique to history.
He also forced millions of people to experience a feeling of terror and fear
that is unknown to most of us. To those who were his followers of hate, I
am living each day of my life making sure that I will never feel the feelings
that you felt and educating others to ensure that they will never follow in
a path similar to yours. To those who spent the majority of their lives feeling
a constant sense of terror and fear as a result of Hitler's tyrannical pursiut,
I can never feel the fear that you felt each day, but I promise to remember

It's easy for people to say how
terrible the Holocaust and hate crimes are, but it's not as easy for them
to actually stand up in what they believe in. If you don't follow through
your actions, you're just contradicting everything you say that you believe
in. Crimes like the Holocaust start off small, and grow to be something bigger
than you can imagine. Even a small thing like sticking up for someone can
make a difference, and maybe as we all grow smarter and more mature in our
actions, the world will begin to change. We can't let history repeat itself.

I feel such great sorrow for all

death. Oh God, please let there never be another mad man like Hitler, then
I remembered to this day, they are still going on. No one people is any better
than another in the eyes of God.

organizations. SHALOM!

I feel that no one should of suffered
what the jewish people who died in the Holocaust and the people who survied.
We are lucky that it hasn't happend again and I have no honor for a man or
woman that thinks there is a race to blame for your countries action. I also
have no honor for someone to have the heart to kill at least 6 million people.
I hope and will always hope and believe that deep down in my heart that Hitler
and the soliders who killed with pride in the holocaust deserves worse than
to just go to hell. Those people that wer in the concentration camps were
very brave. My family was killed in the Holocaust. This note is dedicated
to all the jewish people and especially the people who died in and the survivor's
of the Holocaust.
--Katrina Recht
Every night darkness falls on
the earth, and with this comes the tears and the prayers of the jewish, the
christian, the muslim, and of many other religions for those who died in the
holocaust. Although i am aethest, my tears also fall for the thousands who
died. I also know that these prayers are acknowlegement of the lesson to be
learnt by my generation- the evils of steryotyping and hatred and their devestating
effect on the world. The tears fall at the shame that the holocaust needed
to exist for this lesson to be passed to us, the teenagers of today, so that
we may carry it into the next millenium. I hope that all those who died, fought,
and survived the war- including the nazis and the jews, and all the allies
and others, find peace in their personal heaven, or in their survival...and
that they know that they did not suffer in vain.

I was born in 1952, long after
Kristalnacht. As a child, someone in my family gave me an envelope with German
stamps for my stamp collection. I always thought it was an ugly envelope and
stamps. It did not seem colorful, or joyful as some stamps in my collection,
my grandfather's address had hastily typed was neither well lined up or well
centered on the envelope and the enveloped was "dirty" with several post marks.
Years, later I recognized the dates of the post marks. You could see that
the letter was sent just after Kristalnacht, and made its way to Austria where
it picked up another post mark. Severals days later it arrived in New York
from Austria where it picked up another post mark and finally it arrived in
Chicago where it received yet another postmark. You could trace the sad tale
of the envelope but could only wonder what the letter within had said for
the envelope was empty. My grandparents had not saved many things, but I always
wondered why they saved this envelope. I finally asked my mom who said "I
remember that letter. It was a sad letter. A relative had sent his money to
New York and had written to come to America". I no longer recall what she
said about why he never arrived in New York, but I do recall her sadly saying
"we never heard from him again". It would be wonderful if the archives had
his tale or my mother's words, but this is the least I could do. Shabat shalom.

The Holocaust was the darkest
period in history. Millions of people were killed, tortured, exploited for
the sheer fact that they were considered "non-humans" in the eyes of the Nazi
regime. Entering the 21st Century you would think that the world has learned
from past mistakes but we obviously have not. As we speak and as we go on
with our lives, there are millions of people that are still being tortured,
interned, and exploited because of ignorance and intolorence. The world is
still repeating the same horrors and injustices that occured just forty years
ago. To the survivors my prayers and thoughts are with you. You survived the
most unthinkable and unspeakable crimes known to man. You will never forget
and because of your stories neither will we. To those that did not survive
I say that you did not die in vain. You are our guardian angels and guide
us in the path of peace. The world will never know what we have truly lost.

They will always have a place

I think the Holocaust was the
worse thing in history. The people that committed these crimes were not human.
They couldn't be because no human could do what they did and not be a cruel
animal. If I was a survivor I wouldn't be ashamed but proud that I survived
such cruel and hidious treatment.

Please, to all people of the world,

as a society, and as humans, can not ever let anything like this happen again.

It is not until one lets the emotional
impact of the Holocaust in their hearts that true understanding can be attained.
I have, through the course of my education, heard intellectual arguments made
about the reasoning behind Hitler and his leadership. It is not until one
looks at the pictures, reads the stories, and embraces reality of death, that
one can begin to feel the affects of the Holocaust. My prayer is that all
remember those who died, and never forget the true tragedy of Hitler's Germany.
May Germany always remember, and may the United States never decide to ignore
such a situatin again.
--Marianne
: I know that by far the Holocaust
was the most terrifying and terrible thing that has happened to any one group
of peoples in the 20th Century. And when I say group of peoples I mean human
life in general. No one can ever take away what we know and feel about this
time period. No one can ever makes us forget the things that happened and
the innocent lives that were lost. I am hoping that one day all humans can
see how precious life is and that for no reason at all should a life be taken
away from someone, no matter what the reason. The most famous quote to me
came out of the movie Schindler's List in which it is said that, "He who saves
one life, saves the world entire." How true, how true.

Last week I visited the United
States Holocaust Memorial Museum. It was the most interesting I've ever expirenced
about the holocaust. Just the feeling of standing in the same train as the
jews were transported to differents camps gave me the creeps. I hope the holocaust
learned everyone something so It wont happen again! *** This is for the victims

i wasnt a survivor of the holocaust
or anything i have been learning a lot about them in my english class though.
i have learned about what they ate (very watery soup that had whatever the
SS put in there) i recently read a book called Night by Elie Weisel(survivor).
i would just like to say that people say they have problems (not that they
don't) but they dont think of the horror of actually waking up in the morning
worrying whether they will live or not. Kristallnacht was just the beggining
of this horrible thing. i am 14 years of age and from texas. i hope to learn
more about the holocaust in the next few weeks and you can count on me to
never forget kristallnacht or the holocaust.

As a student of religion,I am
horrified @ the cruelty exhibited by Hitler and Stalin during the Jewish pogroms
of 19th and 20th Centuries. I will continue to pray for all victims of such
cruelty and continue to educate my children on such horrors that could happen
again. Yes, REMEMBER AND NEVER FORGET.Also remember about Blessed Titus Brandsma
and Blessed Edith Stein who were also victims of the Nazi's. They were catholics
who died during the holocaust. Please also remember the 20,000,000 Jews who
were killed by Hitler's evil predecessor, Stalin.Thank you for this site to

Last night for the first time
I watched Steven Speilberg's Shcindler's List. I had heard stories of the
Holocaust and even read books, but this movie made me realize what hate can
do to a nation. I will always remember the Holocaust even though I have no
family members that are Jewish. Because If we forget what hate did then we
are just as ignorant as those who commited the act.
--Shanna Young
As long as there is hatred and
suffering in this world, it will not end. When people are killed because they
are different the Holocaust will continue. We should follow the teachings
of Jesus that we love one another.

And yet suffering continues around
the world. Pray to God in the manner which pleases you, but do not ask Him
to care for the souls of past strife. I assure you He has seen to this task.
Rather, ask God to help those who have suffered to forgive us for continuing
to allow suffering in this "civilized" world we live in. May God have mercy
on OUR souls!

As a junior high teacher, I face
today the daunting responsibility of teaching my students of the horrors and
travesties of World War Two, the Holocaust and Kristallnacht. I ask that God
grant me the strength and the words to do justice to all those who died and

by a terrible darkness. I ask forgiveness for the details I will be unable

I however do not have a rememberance
of this fatel and historical matter, but in school we have been learning of
this beastial and incompitant matter. We are reading the book NIGHT. This
book really has shown our classes the way it was. Even the trouble makers
are being effected by this horrible matter. They all listen contentivly, and
all seem to hear what the teacher is saying/reading. Jokes and comments seem
to be beneath us as our teacher reads aloud. It affects her th most. She takes
this matter sieriously, as do we. It was a sad time, and a wonder to us all
how can a person(if we even consider tham to be a person), be so cruel and
hostile to another human. The jewish faith, thank god, is still here, as the
jews, and we are all thankful for that.

O Lord; O Lord hear my voice. Let your ears be attentive to my cry for mercy.

every woman and child who have fallen under the boots of men who would rather
be animals towards their fellow men.

I lost relatives who came before
me during the Holocaust. I have always made a point of trying to educate,
in a kind, yet very direct manner, those who know little of the events of
1935-45. What is even more important to let people know is that the Holocaust
was only successful because the groundwork for it had been laid over the course
of the hundreds and hundreds of years preceeding those horrible events. Sadder
still is the fact that the end of World War II didn't end the hatred of Jews;
and that hatred has become a model for other ethnic disputes the world over.
Has Humanity learned anything when we still hear every day of atrocities committed
by people against other people? The battle continues...

Although Ausschwitz is the culmination
of horror I always think of the decade that preceded it: humiliations. Jews
forced to gradually internalize the notion that they were rats and as such
had to exterminated. And finally they were: so was my father, so was my grandmother,
my aunts and their babies. No "statistics" as Eichman said, but "one+one+one+one".
I apologize for this muttering. But you offered kindly the opportunity to
contribute "a stone in passing", and I seized this opportunity.

Commemorating Kristallnacht reminds
us that we must always be on guard to protect the rights of all individuals.
Especially, we must guard against complacency that weakens our resolve to
work for those who are not protected. Our material plenty and life in a nation
committed to assuring us our individual human rights makes it easy to forget
those suffering from bigotry. I hope we will never forget that those hungry
for power will do anything they can to obtain it. It is our collective responsibility
to protect the rights of people today and in future generations. I pray that
God will strengthen me to do my part.
--Nikki Stillman
I was born August 5, 1938 in Oklahome,
USA. Though not a victim of the Holocaust, a part of my life has always been
driven by the need to learn and with great compassion for the victims. Perhaps
I have always been driven in such a way because of the timing of my birth.
As a believer in reincarnation of the God made human spirit, I now wonder
(if there is any truth to reincarnation) if the spirit of me was previously
one of the many killed during the holocaust preceeding August 5, 1938...if
so, maybe that is why Poland has held an interest for me since childhood.
I wonder. And, I continue to pray for the families and descendants of every
victim of the Holocaust including Kristallnacht. God Bless.
--Beverly Ann Gross
It is the duty of citizenship

My mother, Martha Driessen, hid
a Jewish woman for over 4 years during the Holocaust. Because she and Lilli
Wolff were partners, their business was destroyed on the Kristallnacht. Those
that tried to stop the Nazi's suffered also. Many Non-Jews suffered because
they tried to help. I will never forget the stories my mother and Lilli told
of the hiding, escape to America and the suffering they experienced because
of a cruel dictator like Adolf Hitler.
--Klaus Driessen
It is truly a sad thing that more
people do not understand the gravity of this one event in history. With it
began the abolishment of millions of Jews--not animals as Hitler seemed to
think, but real people with dreams and hopes...and souls. He who began this
horrid destruction of millions will suffer for all eternity for his sin. But
we must not say that we are good because we have not attempted to remove a
race as Hitler did, for we are also guilty of sins of prejudice and hate.
May we seek forgiveness from the Jew Who died 2,000 years ago. His death seemed
unjust, yet it justified us. May we never forget the death of this Jew, either.

After studying Jewish history
time and time again I cannot get over the concept of Kristallnacht. At one
time these Jews had beautiful synagogues and thriving businesses and then
they were just destroyed and taken away. This was the first domino in the

It was twelve years ago that I
first heard about the holocaust and all the horrors it entailed. My sixth
grade teacher was a strong, beautiful Jewish woman, the grand daughter of
holocaust survivors. As with all aspects of our lives, God knew that I needed
to hear what she had to say about the holocaust. She read us a childrens book
about the holocaust. It was the beginning of 12 years of intense study and
a love for the Jewish people. When Adolf Hitler set into operation the "Final
Solution" he was in essence declaring war against the God of Abraham, Isaac,
and Jacob. And although the many years of communism does not pay near the
penance for the horror inflicted on the Jewish people, it does give testimony
that God does not lack justice for those who harm "the apple of Gods eye".
Thank you to all those survivors who have had the courage to tell their stories
for the world. And for those of us who have heard we join our voices to yours
and cry "NEVER AGAIN!!"
--Kristie Reich
When I first heard about the atrocities
which occurred during WWII in Germany, I was about five years old. And all
I kept asking myself is why. After so many years of studying and hearing the
stories of those who had to live through and past Kristallnacht, I realized
that I was not the only one, nor will I be the last, to ask that question
numerous times. We have to ask why as much as we seek the answers and understanding
that we will probably never have in order to ensure that the hideousness expressed
in such hatred as that will never be repeated. When I asked my mother why
it all had to happen, she replied, "I don't know. But sometimes I think it
is because people are afraid of what they don't understand." Because of that,
I have strived to understand others as much as to be understood. I will remember.
And my Heart is with those who lived and saw and cried.

My father was 15 when he left
Germany with his father to emigrate to America. His mother, Ada, and his sister,
Lisa, were left behind. On Kristalnacht Ada and Lisa were visiting friends.
They heard an outcry on the streets outside (they lived in Oppeln). My uncle,
Lisa's husband, told me that Lisa remembered running through fields to a neighbor's
house to escape the pogram. They hide all night. Ada had had tuberculosis,
so there was some question as to whether or not she would be allowed (with
Lisa) to join my father and his father. I have never discovered how Ada and
Lisa made it to America. There are only hints and innuendos--money, favors
or one kind or another. One by one my father's family has died of cancer.
First Ada, in 1958, the Eric (my grandfather) in 1968, my father in 1982,
Lisa in 1986. My sister succumbed to cancer two years ago at the age of 41.
Ada's sister, Anneliese, survived Auschwitz as did her son, Andreas. They
both are still alive--Tante Anneliese is 94. Andreas is once divorced, now
married--to the daughter of SS Captain. His children attend a German school
here in the States. There is a strange legacy from the Holocaust and Kristalnacht.
I have yet to discern the nature of that legacy. I only know that the Holocaust
continues to happen, one way or another, to this day.

Let us Jews, observant and otherwise,
bear in mind the souls and suffering of so very many non-Jews caught up in
the Holocaust. That we may help to prevent any more Holocausts, let us consider
two other connections: the dark and secret sides of human nature and interactions,
and the ongoing destruction of many who have weaker worldwide voice that Jews
have had. One current example is the "disappeared" victims of sadistic Latin
American fascism. How should we answer Hitler's rhetorical question, "Who
remembers the Armenians?"

I was given a reading assignment
in my High School morality class. It was a survivor's story about his life
in a camp during and after the Holocaust. It made me stop and think and put
life into perspective. Was I really cold in the winter? Do I know what it
truely means to be hungry, cold, weak, scared or lonely? In my mind the answer
is a simple NO. I had my first child and I feel sometimes so lucky that I
get to see my baby grow. How aweful it would be to stand there and watch a
man break up your family or kill your neighbor or close friends or your children
and you can do nothing and these thoughts of all the sufferings that occured
make me break down into tears. There are a few people who can not bear witness
to the Holocaust...please encourage them to account for their sufferings and
losses we must never forget. Please be a kind person to all living things.
All that breathe have souls.

survivors who are able to tell this story that I can fulfill the promise to

of our many synagogues on 11-09/10-1938, there was an assassination attempt
on my father and brother (Berthold Guthmann and Paul Guthmann) carried out
the following year. While the murderers did not succeed then, they deported
my family (and me) a few years later. All but I are dead. We shall never forget
and will never forgive. I want to thank the USHMM and its dedicated staff
for their work on behalf of my martyred friends and family.
--Lotte Guthmann
My father was a Canadian MP during
WWII he spoke very little about the ugly side war but the memories he recounted
to me the struck him the deepest were his first sight of "the Camps" The images
of so many and so much suffering burned indelible in his mind. My father no
longer walks the trails of this world but his greatest deepfelt wish was that
NO ONE on this earth ever fall victim to such terrifing horror. It is us who
must prove this wish true. and do all in our power to stop any such afront
to humanity from surgeing forth again!!!!
--Kevin
I'm deeply touched by every story
I hear about Holocaust. I always have. I always will be. What a tragedy for
all of humanity. The millions who died will never be forgotten. God bless
every one of them.
--Priyam Sharma
This past weekend I finshed up
"I Never Saw Another Butterfly" about one young girl's survial of Terezian.
During this show I was able to learn more about the Holocasut that i never
learned in Hiigh School, but the thing that I want to remember is a quote
that was in our program that said " We must remember because we can not afford
to forget". So I hope that if your are reading this that in your future that
you will not forget and that you will please teach your children abotu this
also. Peace Be With You

I have read and studied the holocaust
for years and it still shocks me to think that this horrible, cruelty to human
life was even thought of let alone carried out. I feel for the people who
lived through this horror, but also for the men, women and children who died
through this horror. Maybe that was a saving grace that they did. History
has a way of repeating itself and I hope that this part of history does not
resurface, but if it does I hope we are wiser in spotting it and ending before
we have another holocaust. For all the people who survived this tragedy may
god bless them wherever they are, and for all those people who perished in
this tragedy may you all rest in piece. And for every race, creed or color
I hope we can all live in peace.
--Melissa
Through all the hard times peole
must remember to stay strong, and believe that life will get better. If it
is to late to make a difference for yourself, then you must remember that
ultimately you are fighting for human kind.

Just recently I visited the museum.
I was one of those people who's tears seemed to dry up and not let you express
your true emotions. Ever since I've heard of the Holocaust I became very interested
it as should others. This thing didn't just happen over night and no seemed
to see it coming but the few who moved to other countries. Then when this
started happening no one reached out to help their friends or neighbors who
were being put to their imedate death or were put to hard labor with little
food making them die slowly and painfully. I think everyone should do something
to remember the many, many people that died such horrible, painful deaths.
That's why I am learning as much as I possibly can about this subject, we
owe them at least that. We owe them at least the guarantee that we will learn
as much as we all can about this and prevent it from ever happening again.
I have so many images burned into my mind now I know I'll never forget anything.
There is the picture of the woman who's identifacation card I got when I went
to the museum is one of the darkest clearest pictures in my mind along with
the last words of the last sentence in that identifcation card "immediately
gassed." Then there is the clearest picture of all, the shoes. It was there
at those shoes that I broke down and cried. I couldn't take it anymore. So
all I have left to say is a message to everyone, learn, understand, and remember.
--Heather
We just started learning about
the HOLOCAUST. We are sickened by how the way that the Jewish people of Germany
are being teated. We would never even think someone could do this, and we
could never do it to someone because of the different race. I am sure that
the HOLOCAUST will be a memorable unit that we were taught. We will never
forget this horrible tradegy. We wish we could have done something if we were
alive back then. When we think about the HOLOCAUST, the first thing that comes
to mind is sick, crazy, but also sorry. So many lives have been taken because
they were different.
--Kayla And Marcy
I cannot see how such hatred became
a part in their daily life. Men loved their family's, wives, yet they were
killing thousands of Jews in the ovens not even thinking twice. How can a
human life take another without feeling guilty, feeling pity or even caring
at all.
--Ben Dohrmann
I'm an eighth grader from the
Frontier Middle School. It is so awful what the Nazis did to the Jews. I can't
belive that so many people suffered without many people knowing. I am so glad
that the Jews stayed strong. I hope this never happens agian.
--Ali D.
It's terrible to see all the things
that Nazis and other people under Hitler's rule did to innocent people. I
can't imagine ever experiencing something that awful. Hopefully history will
never repeat itself, because something that devestating should never be done
again to any race of people.
--Lilly
Although we just started the Holocaust
unit, we feel like we gotten a very good idea of all the terrible destruction
and devastation that the Jews at to go through. What they have been through
is so horrible, that we can't imagine. No matter how long and thoroughly we
study this. I'm glad we are still taught this, even 50 years from now, because
it helps us learn how cruel people are to each other. It's so Amazing how
people treat each other.
--Johanna and Adam
I can't belive that on Kristallnacht
the owners of stores got their windows broken by their own customers.
--Nate Smith
I think that the Holocaust was
a terrible tragedy for all Jews. There was absolutely nothing that they could
do. I think that Hitler and the rest of the Nazis were sick people. How could
someone be so cruel that they try and get rid of a whole human race. Thank
god there are no more people like that right now and I hope that there are
never will be again. But one thing that will always be true is that there
will always be racism and cruelty in the world no matter what and we can't
do a whole lot about it. But, we can try our hardest to give everyone chances
no matter if they are black or white or what religion they are. All I have
to say about Hitler is that he was a sick man and I think that he didn't even
have a good enough reason to do that to so many people
--Ryan Bailey
All I have to say is Hitler was
a crazy and sick man who needed help. It is so depressing to think of what
he did to the world. And to think that there are people out there that worship
him. That is just sick. It is so sad that so many people had to die because
of one man. That just makes me... mad.
--Amelia Beth Reniszewski
I am in the 8th grade at Frontier
Regional High School and I think this is a great web site consirning the persicution
of Jewish people. It is really sad that they were treated this way just because
of their desent. Some things like these are just terrible and should never
happen again.
--Christopher Moulton
Our eigth grade class is starting
a holocaust unit. I find this so interesting because I just don't see how
the germans could get away with it. It would be interesting to speak with
someone who was on the German side and how that they planned everything. Later
on this year I will be visiting the Holocaust museum.
--Joey Patterson
I am learning about the holocaust
in english class and we are looking at this site because it is very important
to the holocaust and I am upset that this are past and that it may happen
again in the future if we dont get along. I am glad that you put this site
on the internet bacause if you didnt make this web site i wouldnt have know
about Kristallnacht
--Anonymous
My eighth grade is going to take
a trip to WASHINGTON in February. We have just begun a unit on the Holocaust
and we are all shocked and disgusted by the treatment of the Jewish people.
No one believes that people could be so narrow minded and cruel as the Nazis.
After seeing the pictures and documents, it is all so real.
--Ashley
We both thought that it was awful
by the way all of those Jewish people were killed just because of their religion.
We also think that it is good to know what happened during the Holocaust.
People shouldn't be treated that way just because of their religion.
--Amy Kuck and Moria Mikolajczuk
Never in my life will I be able
to comprehend why anyone would hate someone so strongly because of what they
believe. Imagine watching your family be dragged away from you, your teachers
expelling you, and just be stared at as if you were a 'thing', because you
are Jewish. I think it is good that everyone is learning about what they went
through.
-- Susie Gokey, Frontier Regional
school, Conway,Massachusetts. 8th grade.
I can't believe this all happened
and the U.S. didn't do anything for so long.
--Jeff
Even reading this over and over
again , makes me realize just how very lucky I am. I can't possibly imagine
how it must have felt to be Jewish during this timeperiod. Just the fact that
you were Jewish did not make it any different. I can't even explain how many
emotions I have about this Holocaust history. This has to be one of the most
horrid and unfair things I have ever heard in my life.
--Jenny
I can never feel what the people
felt on that "Night of Broken Glass" but my heart goes out to them.
--Anonymous
War is stupid! Why someone would
kill another person because they didn't like them is insaine, why would they
do this? This war that Hitler started was useless. Killing thousands of people
just because there not the same as you is like booing someone at a baseball
game because there not good.
--Cameron Turchetti
I can't believe that people are
so prejudice and cruel. This is just awful. I can't imagine this happening
to me.This is going to be a very depressing unit but I think I am going to
learn a lot. People always seem to be afraid of what's different. They can't
just accept who and what people are. If people aren't like you then you aren't
going to be accepted. I think that that is just dumb and I think that Hitler
and some of the Germans were so mean.
--Anonymous
I just started learning about
the Holocaust, and I can see how horrible it was. Kristallnacht or the the
night of the broken glass was very sad to me seeing all the buisnesses and
houses that were ruined. I caned believe that the Jewish people would let
the Nazis walk all over them. I fell sorry for all the Jewish people that
were hurt and injuired for the horrible things that the Nazis did to them.
I hope all the Jewish people honor all the people and all the sufured.
--Ben
I think it was horrible what the
nazis did to the jews they did nothing personal to deserve this horrible treatment.
Just because one single person does something that was wrong doesn't mean
a thing about other people that are in the same religion as him. I don't think
Hitler was right but others shouldnt have follow his lead to make the perfect
person. Minds should think for themselves each person has their own so they
should think like their own. I also don't imagine being a Jew durring this
time period.
--Sarah S. Hay
In my 8th grade english class we
are starting a Holocaust Unit. This was the first thing I've really read about
this and it came as a surprise to me to think about why people could actually
do this.
--Lesley
It was a very sad event. I hope
nothing like that ever happens again.
--Julian Olavegoya
I think that this is horrible
about what happend and hopefully people will learn more a bout the Holocaust.
--Ryan Pierce Johnston
I am just starting the Holocaust
unit in school and I can't believe what the Nazi's did to the Jews. I can't
believe Kristallnacht started because of the murder of one person.
--Jeff
My class is just starting to study
the Holucost. I'm in the eighth grade at Frontier Regional School in Deerfield,
MA. I think its awful what Hitler and other Nazis did to the Jewish people.
I can't even imagine doing something that mean and cruel to one person let
alone millions of people. I hope nothing like the Holocaust happens again.
--Martha Compton
We are just starting to learn
about the Holocaust in our English class in school. From what I have just
learned, I think that it is very sad and horrible. I can't believe some of
the things that people would do to each other. I feel that if I were there
when this happened I would stand up and make a difference no matter what any
one else thought. I am sorry that I wasn't there to help.
--Jen Basil
We have just started learning
about this and we can't believe what happened,we feel that this is a very
tragic event for many people as well as people who learn about what happened
. We hope that nothing like this will happen in the future or any time soon
.We also hope that most teenagers will get a chance to learn about this event
that occured Nov. 9, 1938 . This is an important part of history which is
why we want people to learn about it.
--Crystal and Laura
I am just beggining to study the
Holocaust and I am sickened by the violent hate crimes inflicted on Jewish
people during the 1930s and 1940s. It is horrifying to think that this could
happen in the 1900s.
--Tyler John Caron
Hi my name is Jeff Bellino we
are starting to study the Holocaust. I think it is extremely sick for people
to kill Jewish people like it is nothing. That was stupid.
--Jeffrey William Bellino
I'm a 8 grader in frontier middle
school and we are starting to study the holocaust i think this is really bad
and im happy that this is all over with and i hope that it will never return
in our school you have to learn about all this stuff that went on back then.
--Kelli Fortin
We are starting to learn about
the Holocaust in our English class. What we have learned so far is sad. I
can't believe what happened on the night of broken glass.
--Kim
I have just started to study the
Holocaust. It is really intense. In my opinion this is the worlds greates
disaster that I know. What amazes me is the meir fact that something like
this could happen, and did. I don't think that something of this level will
ever happen again though. I am very interested in this and hope to learn more
though it is so sad.
--Justin Cleare
I am just starting to study the
holocaust. I am amazed at how bad that the Jewish people were treated.
--Mitch
I am an eighth grader at Frontier
Regional High School, and I feel that what happened to these Jewish people
a long time ago was very very terrible. Not one person should have to live
through that kind of torture. What happened was wrong, and I believe that
this never should have happened. No one should have to be judged by their
religion, race, or background. That is just wrong.
-- Erika Skorupski
It's amazing to me that that humans
are capable of doing something like this to other people. This tradgedy should
never be forgotten. Being informed about this day is good. Now maybe if we
know how bad this was, we won't let it happen again. Just think what would
happen if it happened again? Do we really want to kill a race or religion
for the sole perpous that they are different???
-- Natalie
Hi my name is Matt Duca and I am
from deerfield in our class we are just starting to study what happpened during
Kristallnacht "The night of the broken glass" We have just have just started
and am so amazed at how Hitler could do such a thing to any body. Please I
know that it was horrible i think that who ever gets this message you are
a very brave person
--Matt Duca
I am astonished at the cruelty
of man kind and how one can so quickly push these people out of there life
when they did nothing wrong.
--Jamie
Most of my family was lucky and
left Europe. Some may not have been. I'm not old enough to have seen for myself,
but I still remember. Shalom.
--Jennifer (aka "Mara")
I want to remember all of the Jew's
that perished in this awful event.
--Anthony Demare
I commit myself to remembering,
and not even 'comfortably', but to continuing to challenge myself to remember
the truth. Peace to the children of Israel.
--Jacqueline Quackenbush
I was not born, my grandfathers
and grandmothers didn't want to tell me about it, so I read and found that
written words are not enough and I have not even found right words to ask.
--Kerstin
I was born 11/9/38 at exactly the
time given for the beginning of these outrageous events by the Nazi-German's.
As I am homosexual and my partner of 28 years is jewish, we have a strong
affinity for all those who suffered. Unfortunately, the world has not really
changed that much since these events. It is so sad.
--Marc Leger
To all of the families who lost
a loved one during the Holocaust: One day you will meet with them again and
you will be together with them for the rest of eternity.
--Melissa
As every year, I would like to
express my sadness about the tragedy of the Holocaust. I'm a grandchild of
an Holocaust's survivor, and that's why I think that every person who survived
from this war, must tell the story because otherwise in 10 or 20 years, no
one is going to remember it. REMEMBER..DO NOT FORGET.
--Tatiana Ismajovich Szumsztajn
