New Lives in New Homelands
When the DPs immigrated to new nations, relief efforts did not stop. Representatives from organizations such as the United Service for New Americans and the Hebrew Immigrant Aid Society in America, and the Jewish Agency in Israel greeted DPs as their ships docked and helped support them as they acclimated to life in their new countries. In the years that followed, survivors frequently showed the same resilience that had been witnessed in the DP camps, and became leaders in their adopted homelands.
