Fuerth

A DP camp in the district of Bamberg in the American-occupied zone, Fuerth was organized out of fifty requisitioned German houses. The camp maintained a Talmud Torah (religious elementary school) and a kosher kitchen. On December 31, 1945, the camp held 850 Jews, but by July 25 1949, only 76 remained. Fuerth ceased operations on July 15, 1950.
