The Auschwitz Protocol

Back to A Forgotten Suitcase: The Mantello Rescue Mission »

The Auschwitz Protocol is a detailed description of the Nazi death factory written by Rudolf Vrba and Alfred Wetzler, two prisoners who managed to escape from Auschwitz and flee to Slovakia. George Mandel-Mantello received a copy of the Protocol from a Romanian diplomat on the same day he learned of the deportation of his own parents. He immediately hired students to translate the report into various languages and organized a campaign to distribute the report to Swiss clergy, newspapers, and foreign diplomats.
