DC Premiere of La Rafle (The Roundup)

Wednesday, July 18, 6:30 p.m
Joseph and Rebecca Meyerhoff Theater

Join the Museum's Next Generation for the DC premiere of La Rafle (The Roundup), followed by a discussion with the film's director, Rose Bosch, and actress Mélanie Laurent.

This 2011 French drama starring Laurent (Beginners, Inglourious Basterds) and Jean Reno (The Da Vinci Code, The Professional) tells the story of the infamous Vél d'Hiv Roundup. Watch the trailer here.

In July 1942, French police carried out an extensive raid on Jews in greater Paris, resulting in the arrest of more than 13,000 people—including 4,000 children. After spending several miserable days in Paris's Vélodrome d'Hiver stadium, the victims were deported to internment camps elsewhere in France and then, finally, to Auschwitz. With a script based on extensive research and firsthand accounts, La Rafle became a number-one hit in the French box office.

Tickets are $85 per person. RSVP today.
