On Saturday, January 9, 2010, the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum welcomed Ralph Fiennes and Bob Woodward for a special evening examining the Holocaust through the powerful medium of film. Ralph Fiennes has been recognized for the impact his performances have had in raising public awareness of the Holocaust. His outstanding roles include Nazi and Jewish characters in the Academy and Golden Globe award-winning films Schindler’s List and Sunshine. Bob Woodward, investigative reporter and author, interviewed Mr. Fiennes exploring the challenges he faced playing such a range of roles, as well as his interest in faithfully bringing the stories of the Holocaust to the public.
Museum Director Sara Bloomfield’s remarks »
Holocaust films help us “find ways of confronting, or perhaps more importantly not confronting, our innermost anxieties — our own potential for evil, our tendencies to apathy, our longing for heroism, our sense of guilt and our need for redemption.”
