Secret Archives of the Warsaw Ghetto
Since the Museum’s inception, curators have wanted to bring greater attention to the Oneg Shabbat archive and its unique collection of Holocaust materials. For more than two decades, the Museum has worked with the Jewish Historical Institute in Warsaw to preserve this collection and to make it more accessible. Recently, the Museum’s Center for Advanced Holocaust Studies and the Jewish Historical Institute co-published a guide and catalog to this collection. Because of its singular nature, the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) has included the Oneg Shabbat archive in its Memory of the World Register.
The photo gallery above includes a few of the 35,000 items preserved in the Oneg Shabbat archive.
