Genocide Prevention Task Force

The Genocide Prevention Task Force was launched on November 13, 2007, and released its report to the public on December 8, 2008. Jointly convened by the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum, The American Academy of Diplomacy, and the United States Institute of Peace and funded by private foundations, the Task Force seeks to (1) spotlight genocide prevention as a national priority, and (2) develop practical policy recommendations to enhance the capacity of the US government to respond to emerging threats of genocide and mass atrocities.

Global Centre for the Responsibility to Protect

The Global Centre for the Responsibility to Protect engages in advocacy around specific crises; conducts research designed to further understanding of R2P; recommends and supports strategies to consolidate the norm and help states build capacity; and works closely with NGOs, governments, and regional bodies that are seeking to operationalize the responsibility to protect.

UN Office of the Special Adviser on the Prevention of Genocide

Forming a joint office, the work of the Special Adviser on the Prevention of Genocide is closely related to the work of the Special Adviser on the Responsibility to Protect, who focuses on developing the conceptual, political, and operational aspects of R2P.
