MuseumStephanie Nyombayire
Stephanie Nyombayire is a student from Rwanda who came here four years ago and is currently attending Swarthmore College. Having lost nearly one hundred family members during the Rwandan genocide in 1994, Stephanie speaks across the country about the personal experiences that have driven her to take action against the Darfur Genocide through the Genocide Intervention Fund (GIF). She is the spokesperson for the GIF which is combining education, advocacy and fundraising for the African Union peacekeeping mission in Darfur to help put an end to the Darfur Genocide. The GIF is also working along with theAmerican Action Progress Fund, on the BeAWitness campaign, which urges major news channel to increase their coverage of the Darfur Genocide because citizens will not take action unless they know about it.
