Biography

Eliza Moussaeva

Eliza Moussaeva is the head of the regional branch of the human rights organization Memorial in Nazran, Ingushetia. Her office provides free legal consultations to Chechen refugees and monitors the legal situation in Chechnya. Her office also works on trial cases at the European Court of Human Rights in Strasbourg. She has contributed to several books on human rights in Chechnya, including “Cleansing.” She is a trained psychologist and works on psychological rehabilitation for victims. A graduate of the Chechen State University in 1987, she later went on to obtain an advanced degree in psychology, and was a faculty member at the Pedagogical Institute of Grozny from 1996 to 2000.
