Biography

Harold Hongju Koh

Harold Hongju Koh is the Martin R. Flug ’55 Professor of International Law at Yale Law School, where he has taught since 1985 and served as its dean from 2004 to 2009. On June 25, 2009, the US Senate confirmed Professor Koh Legal Adviser to the US Department of State. Previously he served as US Assistant Secretary of State for Democracy, Human Rights, and Labor and on the Secretary of State’s Advisory Committee on Public International Law. He is a leading expert on public and private international law, national security law, and human rights.
