Piero Fassino
Piero Fassino was appointed the European Union’s Special Envoy for Burma/Myanmar in November 2007. A member of the Italian Parliament since 1994, Fassino has also served as Minister for Foreign Trade and Minister of Justice. He began his political career on the city and provincial councils of Turin, and continues to serve in leadership positions in the Italian Democratic Party of the Left. He is a member of the Italian delegation to the Council of Europe, and the NATO Parliamentary Assembly.
