The Honorable Richard Durbin
The Honorable Richard Durbin is the senior US Senator for the state of Illinois and has served as the Senate’s assistant majority leader since 2006. Elected to the Senate in 1996 and re-elected in 2002 and 2008, he sits on its Judiciary, Appropriations, Foreign Relations, and Rules Committees and is chairman of the Judiciary Committee’s Subcommittee on the Constitution, Civil Rights, and Human Rights and of the Appropriations Committee’s Financial Services and General Government Subcommittee. A leader on human rights issues, Senator Durbin is a member of the United States Holocaust Memorial Council.
