Example Indicators: o Describe the rise of and aggression of totalitarian regimes in Germany, Italy, and Japan; o Summarize the rise of Fascism, Nazism, and Communism in the 1930's and 1940's and the response of Europe and the United States; o Explain the role of the Soviet Union; o Explain appeasement, isolationism, and the war debates in Europe and the United States prior to the outbreak of the war; Relate the impact of mobilization for war, at home and abroad; Summarize the major battles, military turning points, and key strategic decisions; o Explain the Holocaust and its impact; o Describe the reshaping of the United States' role in world affairs after the war; o Summarize the major changes in Eastern Europe, China, Southeast Asia, and Africa following the war.
