Arthur and Rochelle Belfer National Conference for Educators Scholarship

Description of Award
The Education Division of the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum is pleased to offer stipends for travel and lodging expenses to applicants who might not otherwise have the opportunity to attend the 2009 Arthur and Rochelle Belfer National Conference for Educators. The awards are funded by a grant from the Belfer Foundation.

Amount and Quantity of Awards
Awards of $1,000 will be presented to up to 20 qualified applicants meeting the criteria identified below. Funds may be used for transportation and lodging expenses associated with the Conference. Funds are not transferable.

Criteria/Eligibility
Travel Awards are available for first-time participants in the Conference. Awards may be given to applicants who meet all criteria for admission to the program and who currently teach in schools and community colleges that (1) serve a large number of low-income students, with at least 70% of students eligible for free- or reduced-price lunch and/or 75% of students participating in Title I programs, or (2) teachers and community college faculty, who live in regions defined as underserved by the USHMM.

Submission Deadline
To be eligible for a Travel Award, applications must be postmarked no later than June 5, 2009.
