JOHNSON & JOHNSON Teacher Workshop for New Jersey Educators

This 2-day workshop, made possible by a generous grant from Johnson & Johnson, will bring up to 24 teachers from New Jersey schools to the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum on May 19 and 20, 2008. Social Studies and Language Arts teachers of grades 6-12 with five or less years of experience in teaching about the Holocaust are encouraged to apply.

Teachers will use the Museum’s permanent exhibition as their primary classroom as they learn the history of this tragic human event. Museum staff and scholars will then assist participants in exploring questions of rationale, content, and methodology in teaching this complex history.

Attendees will receive a stipend at the conclusion of the conference to assist with the costs of transportation and lodging as well as a voucher for purchase of educational materials at the Museum Shop. Extensive free materials and lessons will also be distributed. If you have attended a USHMM program in Washington DC previously, please pass this information to a colleague or another school or district.

Teaching about the Holocaust: A Conference for North Dakota Teachers

Sponsored by the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum in cooperation with North Dakota State University, Fargo, North Dakota.

This workshop, designed specifically for secondary classroom and pre-service teachers of social studies and English language arts, will focus on rationale, methodology and curricular and electronic resources for teaching about the Holocaust and contemporary genocide.

There will be a live video conference with the USHMM's Committee on Conscience and a Holocaust survivor will give testimony.

Teaching about the Holocaust: a Workshop for Kansas Educators

This one-day workshop is sponsored by the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum in cooperation with Wichita State University. It is for classroom and pre-service teachers of social studies and language arts, though other disciplines are welcomed.

Sessions focus on guidelines, rationale, literature, and Museum resources for teaching the Holocaust. Special attention will be given to pedagogical methods for teaching about Auschwitz, and current initiatives of the USHMM Committee on Conscience. A Holocaust survivor will provide testimony.

The workshop will be at the Wichita State University Metroplex, 1845 Fairmont, Wichita, Kansas. There is no registration fee. Free educational materials will be provided to registrants, and complimentary continental breakfast and lunch will be served.

Registrants may receive one (1) hour of college credit through Wichita State University.
