To be a Stephen Tyrone Johns Summer Youth Leadership Program Ambassador is not only to bring the lessons home; it is to take the lessons that we have learned and spread the knowledge back to our communities. That tragic day has taught and shown us that it is our duty to speak up and out against ignorance and indifference. Officer Johns’ passing taught us the urgent need to overpower and eradicate hatred and bigotry. We refuse to turn a blind eye to what is occurring in the world. To be an ambassador is to stay vigilant and to stand firm to our beliefs. We will take advantage of the opportunities set forth for us. We will be the positive voice of our generation. It is our obligation to advocate for change and justice in the world; As ambassadors, we will always remember that.
