Robert Bruce Ehrnman is the Special Advisor for Conflict Resolution in the Bureau of African Affairs and has been deeply involved in U.S. efforts to assist in restoring peace and security in Sudan, Liberia, and Cote d’Ivoire since September 2002. He has led U.S. delegations to the African Union sponsored peace talks on Darfur, held in Abuja, Nigeria, and to the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD) Sudan peace negotiations in Machakos and Naivasha, Kenya. His assignments with the State Department include postings in Bosnia – Herzegovina, Canada, Egypt, Syria, Afghanistan and Germany. Prior to appointment to the Foreign Service, he served in the U.S. Navy as a member of the faculty of the U.S. Naval War College in Newport, Rhode Island.
