Lomole Simeon Mwonga is Chancellor of the Episcopalian Diocese of Khartoum. He grew up in southern Sudan, a member of the Bari ethnic group. Although his education was interrupted by a period as a refugee in Uganda, he earned a law degree from the University of Khartoum in 1977. He has become a prominent defender of the properties and the freedoms of the Episcopal Church of Sudan against confiscation and other forms of harassment by state and federal governmental authorities. He is in the United States as a candidate for the Post-Graduate Diploma in Theology at Virginia Theological Seminary.
